The Inspiration
Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar is a radio drama that aired on CBS Radio from February 18, 1949 to September 30, 1962. The first several seasons imagined protagonist Johnny Dollar as a private investigator drama, with Charles Russell, Edmond O’Brien and John Lund portraying Dollar in succession over the years. There were 809 episodes in the 13-year run, and more than 710 still exist today.
Johnny Dollar was a smart, tough, wisecracking investigator who tossed silver-dollar tips to waiters and bellhops. While always a friend of the police, Johnny wasn’t necessarily a stickler for the strictest interpretation of the law. He was willing to let some things slide to satisfy his own sense of justice, as long as the interests of his employer were also protected.

About Bobbie Dollar

Bobbie Dollar isn’t your average investigator…in fact, she’s special. She’s a modern noir heroine forged in the fires of international crime and high-stakes secrets. A disgruntled DHS agent, Bobbie’s got wit as quick as her aim, a razor-sharp mind, and a nose for cases no one else can crack. She draws trouble like bees to honey and has a knack for turning the heads of handsome men while she’s at it.
Inspired by the classic radio series Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar, Bobbie’s world is an updated labyrinth of dark streets, stolen art, and whispered conspiracies where the price of truth can be measured in bullets—or dollars. Whether she’s chasing stolen glass-plate negatives, staring down crooks in dark alleys, or charming information out of strapping police detectives who ought to know better, Bobbie carries herself with daring, dry humor, and a refusal to back down.
And if the job calls for charging through a gunfight in a luxury sports car, or sparring verbally with corrupt CEOs, Bobbie Dollar is always ready. After all, a Dollar always knows how to get the last word—and the last receipt. Of course, she is always…
Yours Truly,
Bobbie Dollar
